Teacher of Biology/Secondary Science (part-time, 2.5 days a week)

As a qualified teacher you will be familiar with the National Curriculum and experienced teaching secondary students. You will be an excellent communicator who gets on well with colleagues, students, parents, technology and change. To deliver our high standard of educational excellence, we are looking for teachers who are experienced, confident, well organised, have a good sense of humour and a willingness to participate fully in all aspects of school life within and beyond the classroom. The school is particularly interested in applications from specialist Biology teachers but will also consider teachers of Physics, Chemistry and General Science.
We are specifically looking for someone who will:
? Use teaching methods which will engage students through careful planning, effective questioning, good use of resources and a style of delivery that promotes a love of learning
? Set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour, establishing and maintaining a positive approach to behaviour management through well focused teaching and productive relationships in accordance with the behaviour policy of the school
? Set appropriate, realistic yet challenging expectations for pupils’ learning, building on prior attainment/knowledge
? Prepare and present informative reports to parents in a professional manner in line with the school’s agreed assessment and monitoring procedures
? Take responsibility for their own professional development and to keep up to date with research and developments in pedagogy as relevant to their own department and mainstream departments
? Interact on a professional level with colleagues and seek to establish and maintain productive relationships in order to promote mutual understanding of the school curriculum with the aim of improving the quality of teaching and learning in the school
? Understand the importance of being a role model for learning within the school and throughout the wider community in line with our core values.
? Qualified to degree level or above
? Qualified Teacher Status
? Proven track record with at least two years’ teaching experience
? Working in partnership with parents
? Applicant must hold a valid legal visa which allows you to work and stay in Guangzhou
